I am retired - I do not drive - I started cycling ready for my retirement and now cycling is my only mode of personal transport.

It's amazing how some countries can put in so much effort towards catering for cyclists, and others, like the UK, simply pay lip service to getting people on their bikes.I never tire of watching videos like this.
That's how I lived all my childhood Sandy; riding the bike everywhere safely.
Cyclists here have to fight and argue their way (in the eyes of the motorist)simply for their right to be on the road.I am very lucky living where I do because although the main roads are extremely busy there are plenty of country lanes and quiet roads that we can use. Having said that, to follow the quiet ways can put as much as an extra 10 to 15 minutes on a journey of half hour just to stay safe. Those living in the towns and cities don't have that luxury.
